DH and I went out with friends last Thurs to Stroud's- a local pan fried chicken restaurant.  They serve awesome cinnamon "rolls" which I wanted to duplicate, so I tried this morning.  Here is what I came up with- not perfect, but pretty close- if anyone is willing to try the recipe and offer feedback.

Dough:
4 cups flour
2 tbs baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 C sugar
1/2 C shortening/butter

Mix well and add
2 cups buttermilk or soured milk (milk plus 1tsp vinegar)

mix until dough forms
turn onto floured counter and knead 3-4 times folding into 3rds one way then the other.
Pat into 9x13 rectangle

Sauce:
melt 1½ sticks butter, 1 cup brown sugar and 1Tbs cinnamon in sauce pot
pour half the mixture into 9x13 pan
lay dough into pan and cut into serving size squares
pour remaining sauce over dough

Bake in 425°F oven for about 20 min (forgot to time it) or until bubbly and done Wink

I love the clone of a cinnabon recipe at allrecipes, but the biscuit type are so much faster for a throw together breakfast.

GET OUT! We live just down the street from Strouds, and I could keep them in business eating those cinnamon buns. I will have to try this recipe asap!
