    Posted: 30 Apr 2012 at 11:05am
I have been using cloth wipes at home for just over a year now but figured it would be easier to just keep disposables in the diaper bag. Well now I have like 3 disposables left and don't want to buy more.  But how do you do cloth wipes while out and about?  Not sure if I should wet them and keep them in some sort of container (what kind?) or bring dry wipes and a bottle of water or wipe solution?  What does everyone here do?  At home I change diapers in the bathroom right by the sink so I just wet them as I need them.  I'm not always near a sink to wet a wipe when we are not home.

I always use cloth wipes, and I kind of do one of two ways which works because I carry a water bottle around with me everywhere I go anyway.  Most places I change DS's diaper I have access to a sink or bathroom or something like that. When I don't have that I just pour a little water from my water bottle onto the wipe and go to work. I don't usually use wipes when I change a pee diaper so it's pretty convenient.  Ewe need it makes some really great foaming wipes solution you could carry around, and it's great for messy hands and faces too.

I usually just do dry wipes.  99% of the time there is a sink close by.  If not I normally have some sort of water with me, either my water bottle or the boy's cups.

i know some people keep a bottle of solution of some sort but I am always afraid it will leak and get everything wet.  If I did do the bottle of water/solution I would put the bottle in a ziploc baggie too.

If we are going to be gone all day at a park or something I will bring some dry and wet some and place in a ziploc bag.  The wet wipes get used more for wiping hands after snacks or something else and then i have them handy for diaper changes too.

I pre-wet mine and keep them in a travel wipes container. Between the 3 big kids needing hands, faces, and noses wiped and the baby, I use them up enough that they don't get musty. I take a dozen wet and a few extra dry ones jic.

We have a travel sized spray bottle with a wipe solution and just spray it on the dry wipes.  Works perfectly!  All the used wipes go right in the wetbag with the dirty diapers.

I keep a peri bottle with my soap solution and squirt on dry wipes as needed. I keep my wipes in a Planet Wise snack bag.

I pre-wet mine with the solution I make and put them in a travel case. I always go through them quick enough that I've never had a problem with a musty wipe.

I take a small spray bottle with a wipes solution in it. It has honestly never leaked but I still usually keep it in the wet bag I use to hold my wipes. The wet bag for wipes is unnesscesary since I store the wipes dry, but it just happens to be the perfect size and gives me some peace of mind about my spray bottle leaking. I then just put the dirty wipes into whatever wet bag I put the messy diapers in.

I have a planetwise wipes bag and another small wet bag that I use. I usually wet a stack before we leave. The PW bag came with 10 single layer flannel wipes which are nice for travel because they are lighter and take up less space than my thicker wipes. I do keep a tub of sposie wipes in my car for cleaning up spills and washing my hands after shopping etc. but I don't use them on DS unless we run out of cloth. They irritate his bum.

Right now I wet them and put them into a ziplock but I find all too often I forget to toss the clean ones into the wash when we get home so I end up with musty wipes.  All of my peri bottles are in use right now but after #3 arrives I plan on using that peri bottle.  I'll keep it filled and in the ziplock with dry wipes.  I've though about buying some sort of wipes solution but just haven't.

I have a spritz bottle with Kissaluv's diaper potion concentrate in it (mixed with water and witchhazel).  My diaper bag has a perfect-sized pocket for it.  Never spilt.  Wet wipes go into the wet bag, of course.

Thanks! I think I'll find a small spray bottle or something to go in the bag.  I didn't realize planetwise made a wipe bag. I might have to look into that too!

I love California Baby's Diaper Area Wash. I buy it at Target. It seems pricy at ~$10, but a bottle lasts forever.

I keep a small travel sized spray bottle with water and dry cloth wipes that I keep in the diaper bag in a small clear plastic zippered makeup bag.  That way I can always see how many I have left.  I've never had in issue with it leaking thankfully.

I've had wet wipes and dry wipes while traveling.

For wet wipes, I just prep a few while I am getting ready to head out the door and put them in a travel wipes case.  I have also carried dry wipes and wet them with a squirt bottle of water.  I have also used a spray bottle of wipes solution that I spray the bum and wipe with dry wipes.

I prefer having wet wipes available in case of unexpected surprises during diaper changes(so I don't have to worry about getting a wipe wet if needed) but its easier to pack/travel with a spray bottle of solution and dry wipes because I can always keep my bag stocked.

I had a planet wise wet bag, and it was really great, but my wipes were a little to thick for it, and I stopped keeping them wet so I sold it.  Nicki's diapers has/had them super cheap on her clearance page.

I had to laugh because your reason for switching to cloth wipes in the diaper bag was the same as mine.  I know carry a small squirt bottle of water and my wipes in the bag.

We use Ecosprouts spray on dry wipes while out. I just keep that bottle in the diaper bag all the time. I add wipes when I add diapers. So much easier than messing with sposie wipes.
