In just a few hours after I put out more feed for the girls, they have pecked it to death and created nothing in the trough but fine feed dust. Is it ok to just leave that for them or should I add more crumble and/or just dispose of the fine food dust the remains? It seems too fine to eat, but maybe I'm wrong. I sure hope I'm wrong, about 2/3 of the crumble ends up as dust!! Should it be OK as long as I add grit to it? Or will they then just eat all the grit and leave the fine food?

They can eat the fine stuff, it's no different than mash style feed. But if they aren't eating it keep them filled with crumbles-you never want them to run out of food at this age.
I don't add the grit to their food, but that's just me. I keep it in a caged bird dish.
