My husband just got a free trial of Netflix Wii streaming.  I think we will end up subscribing.  Will I regret it?  As it is we only spend $4-5/month renting Redbox movies, but with the Wii- we can watch almost anything instantly.  Oy!

I think we are going to do that when we finally get rid of our stupid satellite in February.  I haven't priced it or anything, but it's got to be cheaper than stupid DirecTV (uh...can you tell I don't like it? LOL).  FWIW, I've heard only good things about the Netflix Wii, especially from people who don't have regular cable/satellite.

We've had netflix for a while, but just started using the Wii for streaming and are loving it! We still have our satellite but we've cut it down to the bare minimum (no cable here or any other way to get the regular channels). I'd totally recommend it for both getting DVDs and the stuff they have streaming, especially for the price.

We currently have the 1 movie subscription and do Netflix Wii streaming - it wasn't any extra cost for us. We really like it.

Sometimes I bring the laptop to the bathroom and put on Netflix online on while taking a bath Smile

We have a Wii, but I have no idea how to hook it up to the internet.  Does it have a wireless internet connection or are you directly connecting the internet to the Wii?

We have Netflix for our Wii and we love it!  As Jen said, the Wii has built in wi-fi and then you just put a Netflix disc in the Wii and select it from your main screen channels area.  A friend gave us 2 months of netflix after the baby was born and we were hooked.  Even Dh stated we'd 'have' to keep it.   I've loved having shows to let the kids watch along with me rocking a newborn and watching my foreign flicks late at night. :)  As an FYI though, I would say to use the built in Wii feature of parent-locking the internet with a numeric code as there are definitely questionable videos available online.

We have netflix on our Wii - no extra cost, you just need wireless internet and then order the disc (also free). We never watch regular TV anymore... I am way too spoiled watching shows commercial free. They're older, but that doesn't bother me. They are supposed to be getting a LOT of new things on streaming in the near future. It's great company while nursing babies at night Thumbs%20Up Definitely what maureen said though, there are some baaaaad things on there that are NOT appropriate for kids. I need to find the parental control options b/c DD has started some odd things and I didn't realize it (the TV was off, but the wii was still on).

Jenny - Have you checked out what you can watch instantly? They do change what is available for instant watching. I've been happy with what's available so far.

We used to have a 2 movie subscription but to cut costs we went down to just 1 movie. Now we just rent family movies. DH and I no longer rent stuff just for us.  Once they opened up watch instantly and sent us a free Wii disk... it kind of made it worth drop the movie and get the online perk.

Maureen makes a good point about a range of movies being available to the kids. I don't lock the account because my kids are older and I prefer to allow them to make the right choices. They do know that I can see what they've watched via the Netflix account.

I wish everything were easier to navigate on the Wii. It's much easier to find stuff on the computer on their website, but it's still great to be able to watch streaming movies and TV through the Wii. Some TV shows are added to the Netflix instant a day or two after they show on TV.

ITA that it can be a pain to search on the Wii itself. We go on the computer to put things in our "watch instantly" queue and then it's all really easy to access to just watch on the Wii.

That is exactly what we did to catch up on the past seasons of Lost! The only dangerous thing is that we found ourselves staying up really late because it was so easy to move to the next episode!

This is what we did before we moved.  Now we don't have fast enough internet through tethering with our phones to stream Netflix anymore.Cry  It just takes too long now.  We survived wonderfully with Netflix and Hulu for over a year before having to get satellite again.  Darn living in the country.Ouch

Funny thing about inappropriate content:  My dad has netflix and has the streaming (but he does his through xbox usually).  Netflix lets you have a certain number of devices receive the streaming and so my bro is on his account to even though at his own apartment.

Well anyway my dad can see everything that my brother orders.  He doesn't order anything really bad but someone from his work came over and I guess watched a few things and my dad was freaking out at what was showing up on the account.  LOL  He was saying I hope no one looks at my list and thinks I watched that.  He knew my brother wouldn't have watched it either so was a little preturbed.

He said we could maybe be one of the devices too with our wii, but that he would be able to see what we watched.  I said that wouldn't be a problem, as long as childrens cartoons didn't bother him too much. Tongue

We have the $10/month Netflix which is 1 movie unlimited per month and free watch instantly. They are fast enough that 1 movie at a time has pretty good turn around for us. There's a distribution center in town, so it only takes about 3 days to send a receive a new one. Anyway, we hooked it up to our xBox, and it's a really nice option. True, we also had to get xBox Live, but DH got a gift card for a year. Plus, I see the year ones on sale all the time. I never search on the xBox, but DH will. I just keep everything in the queue online. A nice feature is that anything already in your regular queue is automatically entered into your instant queue if it goes to watch instantly status. Bottom line, we will be renewing our xBox Live when the time comes lol.

As a side note, we actually bought a tv that was Netflix ready. We ended up returning it because it wasn't working with our worthless Time Warner box. You can also buy dvd players that are Netflix ready. Just an FYI for anyone reading who might not have a Wii or xBox 360.

we've been talking about doing this ... we don't have a wii, but we've been looking at all sorts of devices that would allow us to stream netflix ...  i think the wii looks like the most fun!!  we have minimal cable but i am so annoyed with them i'd like to figure out how to reduce those costs.

As I said above we already had a Wii so we were able to try streaming netflix without extra cost. We are now looking into reducing our cable bill (we will switch to satellite)..hopefully with some of the money we save from cable we can get a netflix-ready DVD player...

We dropped cable when we moved recently and got netflix through the wii. I've been amazed at just how much stuff there is to view instantly. I have to search for things on the computer and add them to the queue there, but overall I'm loving it!

Our netflix just came super fast, and I can't believe how awesome netflix wii is.  For $8.99 a month you can watch sooooooooooooooo much stuff.  I am super pleased with it and so are my children.  We've never had cable, so this is such a treat to them.

That's been my one complaint... DS has gotten a major attitude problem surrounding the TV. He's young enough that I could just flip the master switch ont he power strip and tell him it's broken with few complaints. If he thought it was just me telling him no, he would keep pestering, but if it's "broken" he tends to forget about it quicker.

Thanks to this thread, I'm watching streaming netflix on the tv right now. Thanks, pp, for the info! We got a free wii when we signed up for our internet/phone provider and this is finally putting it to use! (We've barely used it. So glad we didn't spend money on it.)

What internet/phone provider gave you a free Wii?  That's a nice freebee.  Good thing you can finally use it.
