For a beginning PLer?  I'd imagine we're going to go through quite a few when we're starting out until he really starts to get it.  I plan to make some and buy some, but I'm really at a loss as to how many I'll need to start.

I used a dozen imse vimse and two snap-eze. Some days we went through them all but other days less than half were used.

I'd say Liz's suggestion is pretty good.  It depends on if you are going cold turkey on trainers or mixing in dipes (which we had to do because G seriously wasn't getting it).

We have 12 (all cloth ones), 3 BB Minky w/ PUL, and some cheap Gerber ones.  For covers I have 2 dappi pull ons and 2 more OTW (not sure if we need them though)

Thanks!  I just bought a 3-pk of FS&J trainers but it'll take a little while for them to get here.  I might hit Target for some gerber ones just so we can get started and also try to get a few sewn this weekend.  All his pants are wool, so we won't be doing anything different for covers.

I have a dozen and have just started pl'ing with ds....99% misses right nowTongue  What I did with my gerbers is I sewed in extra fabric down the middle to make it more absorbent.  I have some dappi pulls ups and I use my pocket diapers as covers as well.
So let them be little
Cause they're only that way for a while
Give 'em hope, give them praise
Give them love every day
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle
Let 'em sleep in the middle
Oh but let them be little

Some days we needed 12 and some days we needed 1.  It also depends on if you want to wash them every single day, too.  I got 22 and that way i only needed to wash every other day, since i'm not always able to wash every day.  I had 6 non-PUL, and the rest had PUL.  Snap-EZ Eco AIOs, BB Minky, and Little Beetle Learners were my favs.  Imse Vimse were nice too, though.  And Motherease were a joke.

I would say 12 - 15

Tornado - I don't have any that have PUL. My LO's don't care unless they feel wet. I just use ME Sandy's coverless as trainers. Their pants would get wet, but no puddles. If they had on a cover, they could care less. So for us the investment of PUL trainers or just trainers wasn't needed.

Using cloth PT for naps & bedtime. Hurray for PLing!!

We have 12 non PUL (and extra gerbers for back up) and use them coverless around the house as the FS&J (this end up) are absorbant enough for one pee, but if we go out and about we can throw his dappi pull ons on and that is a perfect combo.  We do have 3 BB Minky w/ PUL for out and about (longer times w/out the potty chair) as they hold more.  I think this setup is good so far but we arent planning on going far from home until he is more potty trained.
I would DEFINITELY suggest the dappi pull ons as covers they are perfect!

I don't plan to get any PUL ones since I'm really trying to get Z to be more aware.  We can always cover with wool since we have so much Embarrassed

Amber - are the FS&J trainers much more absorbent than the gerbers?  We have some OTW and I'm hoping they're better since we're just getting puddles on the floor with the gerbers.  I'm thinking about sewing a fleece panel down the center of the gerbers to make them a little more usable at this early stage.
