I so hoped to get some crafting done today, but I have just gotten thermal curtains from Target (for about as cheap as I could make them myself) and I needed to iron them so dh could put them up. The ironing took longer than I expected, but we did get to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show while I got it done!

Tomorrow is trash day, so that was a bit of forced cleanup this evening.

Oh, and we did 3 loads of laundry including dipes today. So we were good!

I am actually thinking about starting flylady again. I think I just got overwhelmed at the emails and never really tried it. I sure could use some guidance...

LOL  it doesn't seem really appropriate crafty chat, but believe me it seems pretty crafty to be solving hooha issues with food items!!! LOL

That's definitely crafty!

Kim: They have an option where you can just get one "digest" email a day, instead of lots of short ones.

Anna: I've thought about taking my knitting to church. Wasn't sure how it would look though. I think I actually pay attention better when I'm knitting though. Like, when I took knitting to our couple's bible study, I was way more involved in the discussion than I normally am.

Kelly from KP has a podcast (don't remember which one) where she talks about taking her knitting to meetings and at first people are put off but then she puts in a few pointed, insightful comments and people know she's paying attention and relax. I pay more attention to TV when I'm knitting....

Yeah, I think DH was irritated when I busted out the knitting the other week. But I was fully involved in the conversation, more so than other people, so he got over it. I take it to Brownies, and I've had it at soccer before, and of course the doctor's office. It's a great conversation starter.

I don't open all of the flylady e-mails yet. Most of them I delete except for the flight plans which have the mission of the day on them. Sometimes the title of a testimonial will catch my attention and I will read it. I think it would be overwhelming for me too. What really got me going was her book, Sink Reflections. I am focusing on the morning and bedtime routines and taking care of myself so that I can take care of others. I love how she stresses that you don't have to be perfect and says not to go too fast so that you burn out. A little at a time or babysteps as she says. I like the 15 minutes at a time b/c I can handle that. If I look at all I need to do and think I need to do it all now, I get overwhelmed. If I say I am going to work in the kitchen for 15 minutes, that I can do. I have been setting a specific time for me to take my shower and really trying to honor that and not push it off for other things. I also have been trying to use my nice lotion and things that I usually don't take the time for. What an amazing difference this has made!
Sorry, that got long. I am just really excited at the positive changes. Who would have thought that taking some time to care for myself would give me a cleaner house? It does though.

I think I'm going to go watch TV in a little bit. I'm trying to decide if I want to work on the scarf or my sister's bag. Or if I just want to go take a bath and read instead.

SM, sorry about the issues with E and you. Hope you are both feeling better soon.
Anna, that is great that Hiram is doing better!
Beth and Kim, some people do pay attention and learn better while having something repetitive to do with their hands. I was a corporate trainer and I would always have stress balls and little puzzle things for the people in my class to use. It helps certain types of learners focus better.

I really enjoyed Fly Lady. Maybe I should start doing it again too. I have such a hard time with taking one step at a time. I always want to jump in to everything all at once. Plus, routines aren't always possible with four kids. At least, they aren't when you don't get up early.

Hope you enjoy flylady Kim. I love that she says "Housework done incorrectly still blesses your family." Her system really seems to help with my urges for perfectionism that paralyze me at times.

Eh, I think a bath is out. Zeke is coughing up a storm in his bedroom, and Emma will sometimes randomly wake up and cry. Guess I better wait 'til DH comes home to do the bath thing.

I have the same problem. I've always said if someone just published a system I could handle it. Maybe, just maybe, this will help. Definitely starting in the morning.
