The Nature of WAHM Businesses
Since the job of a mother is never done, what can you say for the job a WAHM?? As customers of these businesses we need to be sensitive to the needs of the WAHM while at the same time understanding professionalism is important too. From the WAHM point of view, this is a difficult balance to strike. In an effort to keep customers and children happy, WAH businesswomen run their business a variety of ways. If you are buying WAHM products for the first time, be sure to understand which method the seller follows and determine if or how it will work for you. In some cases you can get your products in a matter of days. It others you may have to make your order weeks or months ahead of time.
Reselling
Many directory members are resellers of quantity produced products. These businesses are usually the easiest and least expensive to buy from since their products are made quickly and are easy to stock. There are exceptions to this rule however. Some WAHMs resell mom made products purchased wholesale from businesses like From the Heart, What's Hempenin' and Mother Of Eden. Therefore just because you are buying from a reseller does not mean you are purchasing a commercially made product. On the other hand some businesses sell a little of both! A nice convenience of buying from a reseller is the ability to one-stop-shop because everything you need is sold at one same place.
Long Waiting Lists
Quality mom made products take time but are worth the wait. Some businesses keep a waiting list as long as several weeks. If you have your heart set on a certain mom made product be sure to find out how long their waiting list is and...get your name in quickly!
Short Wait Lists and Network
Some businesses keep their waiting lists short by simplying slow down their advertising and promoting when necessary. This way they can almost control their orders so they do not have to turn anyone away. Some WAHMs simply close their doors temporarily when they have filled their short list. Others make a reciprocal agreement with fellow trusted WAHMs and refer customers to the other business when they have reached their max.
In Stock Only
You will come across some sites that update their sites regularly stating which products are in stock and available for purchase.
Auction
If you are addicted to ebay you will get hooked on these auctions! Some moms sell their in stock items exclusively through auction. Others will use auction their "seconds" or better yet, their one of a kind items. Either way you will find great products there! Check out sites like BuzzShops or MothersNature for auctions.
Mailing List
Some moms sell exclusively from their mailing lists. In this case if you want a certain mom's product be sure to join their mailing list and be ready to hit the reply button when they announce their in-stock products for sale.
There are many options when buying cloth products so before you buy, do your homework and decide what's best for you.
