I'm a 34yr-old, FTM to my DS, Jude. Jude was born at just 27 weeks, so we do everything we can to ensure everything that goes in or on his body is perfection. We've been cloth diapering him since he was 1 month-old/3.2lbs and have since been on the hunt for the perfect diaper/wipe/detergent combo.
We started off with pockets because that was all we could find for a micropreemie. We had no clue about CD detergents, so we used Dreft, Tide and Gain. Boy were we mistaken! It would take up to FIVE washes to get them clean! We moved on to CD detergents, starting out with: Charlie's Soap, Rockin Green, Country Save and Biokleen.
Charlie's Soap always left a weird film on my LO's dipes. Rockin Green was ok, but I had to rinse 2 or 3 times to get all the detergent off. Biokleen makes a great stain/odor remover -- Bac Out -- but not regular detergent. And Country Save was great, but it wasn't mind-blowing.
After a search of reviews, I tried Crunchy Clean Monkey Farts CD Detergent in the super formula. Ashley, the creator, has samples for $2.50 for sale. Also, I paid around $4.00 for some pure oxygen cleaner, $2.50 for something to scent my vinegar, and $2.50 for Everyday Detergent in Clothespin. Each sample had enough for about TEN loads and I have hard water!!!
I NEVER have to do an extra rinse and the scents are never overpowering, nor do they effect my dipes. I have eczema and VERY sensitive skin; my son is prone to yeast infections. We've NEVER had a problem with Crunchy Clean!
I just spent another $40 restocking. For $40, I got 3 vinegar oils, a regular-sized bag of Everyday Detergent in Pink Sugar (smells like cotton candy!), a regular-sized bag of Monkey Fart CD detergent, a small bag of oxygen cleaner, a linen spray in Caribbean, Sprinkles pail freshener and a cute wooden scoop! Each regular-sized bag can do 80 loads in my top loading washer!!! I do diapers every day and I won't need another bag for over a mont
I have not yet used the Crunchy Clean products on cloth diapers, BUT I have used it on regular laundry and I must say I am in love with this stuff!! I wash my work clothes with the cloth diaper detergent (I know there is no soap in this particular product, and so I use more to be sure it gets clean, but I work in an office so my office clothes aren't soiled). My clothes come out of the washer smelling perfectly clean and feeling perfectly clean. They are softer than usual, too, which is really nice. The soap leaves no lasting scent, just a sort of ""bleach clean"" scent. I used the scented wool balls to dry my clothes with and I smelled like Monkey Farts all day, which I enjoyed very much! I am also using their Pure Oxygen product, which is amazing! I had some old baby clothes from my Daughter (she's 4 years old now), which were stored for years. I pulled them out to pass down to my new son due in June. They had formula and other yellow stains all over them. I washed them in Crunchy Clean by itself, and it took a little bit of the staining out. So I decided to do their soak method. I used 4 TBSP of the Pure Oxygen and 2 TBSP of the Crunchy Clean diaper detergent and soaked them for 5 hours. Washed them with the diaper detergent and more Pure Oxygen, and the stains are almost gone! I should have soaked overnight, and I'm sure they would be gone. But, now I know that those horrible stains can be removed, and I will soak them once more (this time overnight), and I am certain that they will be gone. Great products!
I loved this the first 2-3 times I used it. It smells great...and no residue from what I could see. So I ordered two more bags! While I'm waiting for the bags to arrive, I am now seein g my Stay-dry inserts are turning yellow. All our white clothes are too. I am not happy. I have not received my delivery yet, but I am tempted to send everything back. However, I have also heard from fellow customers of theirs they are not quick to respond when people are not happy. Not really sure what to do. I love the different scents the detergent comes in, but I really think the oils leave the water to turn yellow. I can not seem to get the stains out either. (The sun won't even work!) I give it a 2. Maybe I could try the hard water formula? we do NOT have hard water, but I have seen better reviews with the hard water formula. But....why risk it?
