Every WAHM puts something
special into the diapers they make. Apparently Jody puts LOTS
of special things in her diapers, because HoneyBoys command some
of the highest bids at auction. Let's find out what kind of person
can make such an in-demand diaper! How many children do you have, what are their ages?
I have one child, Jacob. He was born March 14, 1999, which makes
him almost 2 1/2.
What's special about him?
Well, I'm sure ALL of our children are special. What I think
is special about Jacob is he is just super
sweet and loving! I always wanted to have a sweet little boy,
and I really hit that jackpot with Jacob!
It's so fun having a 2 1/2 year old! It's so amazing to watch
his personality unfold. He's really into all
modes of transportation right now -- cars, trucks, trains, etc.
We took him to the State Fair recently,
and he wanted nothing to do with the animals, but instead wanted
to see all the work trucks up close! :)
How did you meet your husband?
I was going to the UW and waitressing at a restaurant/theater
place called "The Fireside" and he was one of the cooks
in the kitchen. He asked a friend to ask me if I'd mind if he
called me. I said okay, but then it was one of those horribly
awkward situations where I was terrified to go into the kitchen
for things, because I'd have to see him (I'm very shy!). I remember
going in and pretending I didn't see him standing there! But
once we got to know each other, then it was fun :)
What kind of a home do you have?
We live in a house in the country. I really like it, but kind
of want to move closer to town. I guess there's pros and cons
to every situation. I mean, it's great to be able to go outside
and hang laundry in the morning in my jammies and not have to
worry about someone seeing me, but sometimes I just want to be
closer to "civilization".
What did you think you'd be when you grew up?
I was always interested in human anatomy and health and things
like that. I wanted to be a doctor when I
was young. I had this encyclopedia and learned all the names
of the bones. But I guess as a teenager the
years of education scared me and I was not real sure *what* I
wanted to do. I hope to return to school
someday, even if just for personal enrichment.
Who were you in your past life (before HoneyBoy... any
interesting jobs or schooling?)
I went to UW-Whitewater and UW-Madison, but (regrettably) never
graduated. I also have an associate degree in court reporting,
and I did that for about 4 years, right up until I had Jacob.
I actually had a back-log of work after giving birth, and spent
the first week of Jacob's life in bed with him and the laptop
getting caught up.
If you have time for hobbies, or outside interests, what
are they?
I love to play Scrabble. My sister got me into it, and we play
about once a week or I'll play my mom. I
also love going to movies or renting them, surfing the internet,
reading books, running and hiking (Jacob in backpack).
What's your favorite music?
If I had to say my all-time "favorite" group... what
I'd take along with me to a desert island ...it would
be "The Indigo Girls". I just love all their music.
But I also like everything from Diana Krall to the
soundtrack to "Les Miserables" to Alanis Morissette
to Tracy Chapman. I guess you'd just call that eclectic! :)
I usually only listen to music, though, when there's nothing
good on public [talk] radio! I'm addicted to Wisconsin Public
Radio!
Your favorite kind of food?
Shamefully, I'm pretty much a junk food junkie! I love pretty
much all foods you'd find in a movie
theater... popcorn, soda, candy! I guess my favorite "healthy"
food is bagels with hummus and tons of
onions and salsa on top.
What's your favorite product from another WAHM?
All of the wahm products I've tried have all been excellent.
I couldn't possibly pick just one. I think they each have their
own unique characteristics that make them special.
What are your dreams for the future?
To live a long, happy, healthy life and have my children grow
up to be loving, happy people (and for them to not move too far
from home! LOL!).
What's something that no one would ever guess about you?
Well, the only thing I can think of that people may be surprised
about is that I love to run, and next month
I'm running my first marathon. I hope it will be the first of
many, but right now I just want to live through that one before
I plan the next! :).
