Behind the Diapers - Cozy Time Babies

Heather Meyer
Cozy Time Babies

Heather Meyer admits she is addicted ... to cloth diapers. She always associated cloth diapers with flats and pins, but when she saw how cloth diapers have evolved, she was hooked. Once thought of as a tree-huggin' hippie, she is proud to be able to still do her part to preserve the planet by making and using cloth diapers.

How many children do you have and what are their ages? Tell us a little about each of them.
I have two children. Killian turned 7 on May 5th, and Gabriel will be one on June 15.

Killian is a brainiac. He loves to read. He reads all the time. He has a very kind heart and loves to learn about people and their differences. His heart is full of love.

Gabriel is very adventurous. He was climbing the steps at 7 months and he started walking at 9 months. He is a cuddle bug. He loves his mommy - totally attached at the hip, literally. Thank goodness for the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. He is full of personality and I can tell already he's going to be a comedian. He loves his big bro. He tries to do what ever Killian is doing. I love sitting back and watching them interact.

What is a funny or rewarding experience you've had as a mama?
I feel every aspect of being a mama is rewarding. Even the frustrating times. You learn with the good and the bad, and learning is always rewarding. But the biggest reward of all is seeing your children smiling at you.

What did you think you'd be when you grew up?
A brain surgeon. LOL.

Who did your classmates think you were in high school?
A tree huggin' hippie.

Would they be surprised by who you are now?
Not one bit.

Are you married? How did you meet your husband? Was it love at first sight?
I am married. I met him while I was working at a resort he was staying at while he was working out of town. The first time we met I carded him at the bar. LOL and it was definitly not love at first sight. I thought he was the most gorgeous guy I have ever seen, but when he talked, I was like ewww. I think he was trying to hard to impress me. With a lot of help from his friend and my friend, we ended up hanging out more and I really got to know him and then I fell in love.

Who were you before Cozy Time Babies... any interesting jobs or schooling?
Besides a Mom, I was a Massage Therapist. I loved it, but loved being home with my kids more.

How did you get started cloth diapering and sewing your own diapers?
Friends showing me their cute dipes. When I had my first son, I lived in a small, small town. I had no clue that cloth diapers were what they are today. I though they were flat folds, pins and plastic pants. I still thought that when I was pregnant with my second, and then I saw what they are now and couldn't help myself. I soon became a cloth diaper addict.

What inspired you to create your business? Did you run into any obstacles in starting it?
I wanted to do my part to save the world, and give babies healthier hineys.

How did you come up with the name Cozy Time Babies?
My oldest son came up with it.

What did your family say when you told them you were going to be an entrepreneur?
My husband thought it was great, and so did my mom and in-laws. My dad thought I was crazy, but he has since changed his mind.

If you could do any kind of work you wanted, other than the business you now have, what would you be doing?
Anything, I would be the coordinator for achieving World Peace and preserving our planet. I know that's not really job, but you asked anything. LOL.

What are your dreams for the future?
For my family to be bigger, healthy and happy. That's all I could ask for.

If you have time for hobbies, or outside interests, what are they?
Pilates. Reading, computer, walking, watching movies.

Who, living or dead, real or fictional, would you like to have lunch with, and what would you discuss?
My paternal grandma. She passed way before I was born.

What is your favorite movie?
"What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams.

Where would you most like to travel to?
Australia, hands down.

What's your favorite product from another WAHM?
Pregnancy and Labor Baskets from Jack's Magic Beanstalk along with her other items. She is a GREAT WAHM and I have learned a lot from her. She truly is an asset to the WAHM community.

What's something that no one would ever guess about you?
That I have lots of tattoos.

When did you get your first tattoo? Are there any tattoos that you particularly like? Do both you and your husband have any of the same tattoos?
I got my first tattoo when I was 18. I decided to go all out and I got my rib cage done with a rose vine. My favorite tattoos are the one on the back of my neck. It says Killian, a symbol for love, a symbol for truth and the number 42 in honor of a young boy that was friends of the family who passed on, and my other favorite is my new one. It's a purple sun with gabriel written in the rays. It has green clouds and a blue sky in the background. My other favorite(lol) is my engagement ring. Dh and I got matching bands tattooed on our ring fingers when we decided to get married.

Anything else you think would be fun for others to know about you?
Some people are suprised that I have such a great faith in the Lord. I've had a tough hand dealt to me when I was younger and people ask me how I can love a God who put me through that. I tell them He didn't put me through that. He helped me get through it with great strength and for that I owe everything to Him.
